When is the Bahrain Grand Prix?

Date published: 27th February 2024

The 2024 Formula 1 season is now just days away with the Bahrain Grand Prix happening this weekend. We’re all used to having a Grand Prix on a Sunday but for this season opening race and for round 2 in Saudi Arabia, the races will be on Saturdays.

Why are the races on Saturday?

Round 2 is in Saudi Arabia and Ramadan is due to begin on Sunday 10th March, so the Saudi GP has been brought forward one day to run on Saturday 9th March. This has a knock on effect because the Formula 1 rules state that there must be 7 days between races and so, Bahrain this weekend is also happening on Saturday.

When is the F1 on?

Bahrain:

  • Thursday 29th Feb 11:30am & 3pm – Free Practice
  • Friday 1st March 12:30pm – Free Practice, 4pm Qualifying
  • Saturday 2nd March 3pm – Race Start

Saudi Arabia:

  • Thursday 7th March 1:30pm & 5pm – Free Practice
  • Friday 8th March 1:30pm – Free Practice, 5pm Qualifying
  • Saturday 9th March 5pm – Race Start

What about Fantasy GP?

As per usual, Fantasy GP locks at the start of qualifying, which means all teams and predictions need to submitted before the scheduled start of qualifying. Players will not be able to make changes after this time. It’s important to note that the game will be locked on a Friday for these first two races!

  • Bahrain – Fantasy GP locks at 4pm on Friday 1st March
  • Saudi Arabia – Fantasy GP locks at 5pm on Friday 8th March
