The Results are in for Austria
UPDATED - Find out how you did in the Austrian Fantasy Grand Prix weekend, with extra points for the Sprint stuff too!
Date published: 2nd July 2023
The Austrian Grand Prix was an entertaining Grand Prix, but as with the rest of the races this season, Max Verstappen was truly dominant and it was only a matter of time to get back out in front and take the chequered flag. We had some fun battles behind, Perez’s recovery to 3rd, an impressive drive for Norris in a massively updated McLaren and the return of Ferrari actually looking quick. If we would have had some rain or showers, it could have been a massively exciting Grand Prix, but hey ho.
In Fantasy GP terms, we of course had Max Verstappen on Pole Position and a Podium of Verstappen, Leclerc and Perez, with Verstappen taking the Fastest Lap on the final lap after a risky last minute pit stop. And we had a total of 2 Safety Car Periods. For the Bonus Prediction, the correct answer was A) less than 7s with the gap between 1st and 2nd being around 4s – mainly due to Verstappen’s late pit stop. Yep, he was so far ahead he pitted for fun and soft tyres to claim the Fastest Lap point.
UPDATE – Points for the Austrian GP have been revised and updated following several post race penalties for track limits, yes, really. The points shown below are the final final points. The FIA and F1 have been testing our patience limits today.
The Austrian GP was a Sprint weekend, so as well as the points scored in the proper qualifying on Friday and the Grand Prix on Sunday, drivers and cars also scored points for the Sprint Shootout and Sprint Race. All points are calculated together, but you can see the breakdown below.
Next up in the British Grand Prix in 7 days time, see you on the Fantasy Grid then!
