What a ridiculous time at Zandvoort, with rain causing carnage on the track, in the pits and at FGP HQ. Ultimately, it didn’t significantly impact the very front of the order, with Verstappen again keeping his head and strolling to a relatively straightforward victory in the wild circumstances. However, the rest of the grid provided great fun and made up for what hasn’t been the most exciting season.

We must give some special shout-outs, one to the veteran Alonso, who finished 2nd, and one for a superb drive from Gasly in 3rd. Liam Lawson also deserves massive praise for his 13th finish on his F1 debut, stepping in for Ricciardo after his unfortunate incident in practice.

In Fantasy GP terms, Verstappen secured a commanding pole on Saturday. The podium on Sunday consisted of Verstappen, Alonso and Gasly, with Alonso taking the fastest lap award. We also asked where Bottas would finish, and the answer was C (12th or worse), with his 15th. There were two safety cars, firstly for Sargeant’s crash and then Zhou’s later in the race (a reminder that a VSC changing to SC counts as one continuous period and only stops when racing resumes, even after a red flag).

Gasly took the largest bonus points haul with 23 to finish 3rd. Honourable mentions for Hamilton (19) and Lawson (17) too.
