Hamilton takes Victory in Hungary

Date published: 19th July 2020

Lewis Hamilton has now officially led more laps of the Hungaroring than every other driver on the grid, combined. Wow. To say this is a specialist track for the current champ is an understatement. He took his stunning Mercedes car from Pole to P1 in what looked like an effortless drive, taking Fastest Lap and therefore maximum points and now leads the championship.

Bottas was left to take P3 behind Verstappen and P2 in the Championship standings.

In Fantasy GP terms, the standout drivers for Hungary, Kevin Magnussen, Alex Albon, Max Verstappen and of course Lewis Hamilton. Magnussen bagged 27 bonus points for his drive from back of the grid to 10th – he started from the pit lane with team mate Grosjean after Haas called in their drivers for slicks during the formation lap – a call that bizarrely gave the pair a 10s time penalty. We don’t agree, but that’s what’s been decided in the stewards room.

For cars, it was a great day for Mercedes and Red Bull – both bagging 41 points in Fantasy GP. Beyond them it was Racing Point and Haas with 18 and 14 points respectively. Williams left Hungary with nothing, despite a much improved car they finished at the back.

Vettel finished 6th, so for our Bonus Question around the highest place Ferrari, it was B “5th-8th”. The Hungarian GP was also free of any Safety Cars.

Alex Albon’s investigation was cleared. Bottas’ jump start was also cleared. Penalties of 10s added to the race time of both Haas cars were applied after the race, dropping each one position.

The scores below show the points awarded to each driver. Congratulations to Dom Keel who takes P1 in the PRO Championship, and a round of applause and the prizes go to “Craig B” for winning the Hungarian GP in the PRO Championship. The highest scoring player was in fact “Stuart Gillespie” with 226 points – well done!
