Hamilton Dominates uneventful French GP

The results are in for the Fantasy of France, find out how you did!

Date published: 23rd June 2019

The French Grand Prix wasn’t a spectacle on track. The Top 4 finished as they started, Vettel could only recover to 5th. McLaren had a heart breaking end to the race with Norris having car issues dropping him to 10th after running 7th behind team mate Sainz. Still a solid result for the orange cars. Verstappen drove a solid race to 4th in his effectively 1 car team whilst Gasly picked up zero points and over a full minute behind his superstar team mate.

Renault faired well, but out raced by McLaren and Kimi Raikkonen made Alfa Romeo look good with a solid 8th place at the chequered flag. Haas had another weekend to forget with Grosjean retiring and Magnussen finishing 17th. Toro Rosso looked good but were also at the wrong end of the midfield battle. Racing Point did better than they expected but came away with zero points. Williams backed up the field as usual, we’re sad to say.

So it was far from a classic race, but in Fantasy GP we saw some massive scores – with such a predictable result, many players scored well. For the bonus question we asked for the total number of pit stops – we only had 24 in France in total, so the first option was correct (0-24), with option B being 25-30. We also had one Safety Car period, even if it was a very short Virtual SC. Vettel bagged the fastest lap point on the final lap with his fresh tyres, stealing it away from Hamilton. Kvyat scored an impressive 15 bonus points finished 5 places up from his starting position of 19th. Raikkonen, Hulkenberg and Stroll also picked up a handy 12 points each.

The winner in the PRO Championship for France is Vlad Sunjerian who takes home the official Fantasy GP Trophy and a Graham & Leigh race track – well done!
