How to win at Fantasy GP

Win? Of course you can, have a read of this!

Really, yes really – we’re going to show you here how to win at Fantasy Grand Prix.

  • First of all, you need to enter – this may sound obvious, but it’s good to check the audience reading this, if you don’t have a team yet, you can’t win. Got one? Good.

  • Pick 3 cars and 3 drivers – you need 3 of each to have a complete team. Oh and no you cannot have Max, Lewis and Lando with McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari because you also have a budget you need to keep to.
  • Make some predictions – to keep it lively, you can also score points by predicting various elements of the Grand Prix weekend – make sure you do this. If you think Max is going to win, get Pole and the fastest lap, you can predict that. Heck you can even put him down for 2nd and 3rd too. It’s not the brightest idea, because even Max can’t take all 3 top places in a race.

These are the essential 3 steps to complete and if you’ve got this far, great.

Now for the really interesting bit…

  • Those 3 cars and drivers you’ve picked, are they the best ones? Now this is tricky, seriously tricky at this point with no races to go on, but here are some things to consider:
    • Cars – there are two of each in race, i.e. 2 Ferraris, but only 1 Lewis Hamilton – sometimes it can be better to back the cars over a driver. But drivers get additional points for improving their position from start to finish. Drivers also get bonus points for Pole and beating team mates too.
    • Drivers – the champions and experienced ones cost more – obviously, so if you’re not 100% sure they are worth the money, taking a punt on a rookie can really help and turn out to be a wise move. That said, rookies often cause crashes or just don’t do very well (Logan?) so they can be a risk…
  • There are 24 races – yes you’re probably a seasoned F1 fan and know this already, but think about it – you can win the season in the first race, but you can pick a driver or car that you think is undervalued and then profit when their price goes up after some good results. It’s a cunning strategy, but then if they are that good, you may not want to sell them on!

  • Manage your budget – as mentioned already, you can profit from drivers and cars going up in value, but you also want to get the best team possible from the outset, and more money helps with that – so you can upgrade to be a PRO Champion player in Fantasy GP and add an extra $5m Fantasy dollars to your budget – you also lose all adverts and gain loads more perks include the chance to win prizes. If you aren’t PRO already, do it now! Go PRO for 2025.
You could win this on Sunday with a PRO account!
  • Create a league with friends and family – ok, so even if you do all the above, you are playing against thousands of players across the world and it’s going to be tricky to beat everyone – so why not create your own league to play against friends, family or people at work – it can make for a great bit of competition! PRO players can join as many leagues as they like.

  • Make some default predictions – once you have made some predictions for a race weekend, you can set them as defaults for the season, super handy if you ever forget – it’s a PRO perk.
  • Get Williams in your team, maybe. We can’t predict the future, but the prices in Fantasy GP were set ahead of testing and the Williams team looked like they were on it and ahead of everyone after the top 4. They are currently one of the cheaper cars – worth a gamble? Probably, maybe.
  • Sainz – see above, if the Williams is up to speed, you have to have faith in Carlos showing everyone else up and leading the blue cars to the top of the midfield, or further. Or maybe go for Albon who is cheaper and has a point to prove now he has a team mate who can finish a race.

  • Rookies in big teams. Lawson and Antonelli are both rookies and both in top teams. As such they are potentially absolute bargains to have in your team – if they can keep it on the road, chances are they have the speed in their car to bag some decent points.

  • Risk some rookies to get some big names – if you really want McLaren and Red Bull in your team (it sounds like safe bet, eh!) then you can do so by having some proper rookie drivers, like Hadjar and Bortoleto to save some money – they may end up being brilliant too, maybe not, but hey they are cheap anyway.
  • Pick Stroll – no, really – he may crash on out laps, he may crash on in laps, he may crash on any lap, but over the course of a season, he somehow manages to rack up some decent points. Just don’t expect to get too excited. Sorry, Stroll fans!
  • Go all out for one team – now this IS risky, but it is also a way to possibly win the first race – go all out. If you think McLaren, or Ferrari are going to win, then try and get the car, both drivers and predict them for everything in your predictions too – if it comes good, you’re laughing. If it doesn’t, you’re crying – sorry – but it’s an approach that can work.

Just have some fun!!!

This article feels like it may have got too serious. Maybe. Is this real life or is this fantasy – famous lyrics and in this case, it definitely Fantasy – the real life stuff is the multi-million pound cars on the track on telly. Fantasy GP is a fun game and makes the boring races fun and the great races truly epic.

Get involved, from your sofa and get your team ready before the first race!

Ps. oh and Go PRO too, we’re a totally independent game, designed and made by F1 fans for you and other F1 fans to enjoy.
