The 2022 changes have treated us to another fine race today in Melbourne with the Fantasy GP of Australia giving us another fascinating race. Leclerc appeared to have it all under control, while elsewhere in the field it was action packed with the midfield battling from the first lap to the chequered flag.

It was tricky for Ferrari, while one car won, the other was the first retiree with a disastrous start and appearing to struggle with a bizarre choice of tyres for the start. Similar for Red Bull – the car was fast and Perez had P2 under control, but Max Vertstappen retired with car issues, his second DNF in three races. Meanwhile Mercedes finished P3 and P4, ahead of McLaren in P5 and P6 – remarkable given their respective performances in the opening races.

For the Fantasy GP predictions, we had the podium of Leclerc, Perez and Russel. Leclerc also took the fastest lap as well as Pole Position. We had a total of 3 Safety Car periods and for the bonus prediction about McLaren’s weekend, the answer was a) Top 6 with Norris finishing P5 for McLaren ahead of Ricciardo in P6 – good work McLaren!
