Verstappen Wins the Monaco Grand Prix
The results are in for the Fantasy Grand Prix of Monaco. Find out how you did!
Date published: 23rd May 2021
The Monaco GP started with a disaster before the lights even came on, with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari having a mechanical issue following his crash in qualifying. This meant Max Verstappen inherited Pole Position and maintained P1 into to turn one, leading Bottas, Sainz and Norris.
It was largely your typical processional Monaco race leading up to the pit stops where we had the shock exit of Bottas following a threaded wheel nut. Hamilton’s strategy failed him while Red Bull aced it with Perez and Aston Martin did well with Vettel as both drivers moved up.
The rest of the race followed a pretty much status quo giving us a podium on Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.
In terms of Fantasy GP predictions, Verstappen of course inherited Pole, Hamilton bagged the fastest lap and we didn’t have a safety car. Ricciardo’s 12th place meant, option B was the correct bonus prediction (8th-13th).
Stroll and Perez did well with bonus points with 12 a piece, followed by Alonso with 9 and then Vettel, Raikkonen and Latifi all taking 6 bonus points.
Full points for drivers and cars shown below. Note that all drivers started a position higher than they qualified due to Leclerc failing to make the start of the race. Fantasy GP takes the actual grid as the starting positions.
An apology for players for our technical issues in previous races and to those who missed our communication around the early closing for the Monaco GP. Lessons have been learned and going forward we will do better and hope you can all enjoy Fantasy Grand Prix for the rest of the 2021 season and beyond.
