The points are in for the Qatar Sprint and Grand Prix, find out how you did

Date published: 8th October 2023

It was a little manic at FGP HQ, with a minimum of 3 pit stops per driver following the tyre issues identified through the course of the weekend. It didn’t lead to a classic, with Verstappen easing to victory under the lights in Qatar. McLaren took advantage of the Mercedes pair getting together on lap 1 to take their second podium double in a row. Elsewhere, there were penalties galore as track limits became an issue again.

A special mention to Verstappen on sealing his third WDC in Saturday’s sprint. He’s been almost untouchable this season. Let’s hope the competition can close in for 2024.

In Fantasy GP terms, the podium comprised Verstappen, Piastri and Norris. Verstappen took Friday’s pole and also the fastest lap on Sunday. One Safety Car followed Hamilton’s and Russell’s clash into the first corner. We asked how many points McLaren would get on Sunday, and they smashed it, with C (7pts or more) making it seem like a gimme…

Despite another terrible weekend full of errors, Perez’s pitlane start saw him get the largest bonus points haul, shared with Zhou, after both got 18 points.

That’s enough from us, we’ll see you in two weeks in Austin for the USA GP, where a certain Daniel is expected to re-emerge.
