The reigning Champion had his first car issue in two years with a rear brake setting on fire in the early laps with Carlos Sainz taking the lead and continuing to lead the race through to the chequered flag – an incredible result, especially given his recent medical issues, missing the previous race.

It was a disaster for Mercedes – Lewis Hamilton failed to finish due to an engine issue and George Russell had a nasty crash on the final lap while chasing Alonso for 6th place, leaving his car straddling the race track in pieces. Thankfully George is ok.

In Fantasy GP terms we had the podium of Sainz, Leclerc and Norris, Leclerc took the fastest lap and of course Max Verstappen had Pole Position. We had a total of 2 Safety Car periods and for the Bonus Prediction around where the highest McLaren would finish, the answer was a) top 6 with X finishing 3rd.
