The 70th Anniversary Grand Prix gave us a rather exciting afternoon of racing – largely due to the softer tyres and mixed strategies. Red Bull rolled the dice with Max starting on the harder tyres and it paid off with an impressive win.
Hamilton managed to steal P2 from Bottas with a slightly different strategy and Lewis on a late charge with fresher tyres. It’s a huge blow for Bottas who saw a chance to fight back at his all conquering team mate disappear.
Ocon, Kyvat and Raikkonen came home with some big points in Fantasy GP, all improving on their starting position. Albon and Leclerc also scored handsomely, both improving by 4 positions. It was another race to forget for Haas. Alfa Romeo had a shocker too, but Fantasy GP bonus points, helped rescue their performance in Fantasy terms. It was another race to forget for Vettel with mistakes on lap 1 putting his charge up the field on hold. Ricciardo also had a poor Sunday and McLaren didn’t deliver on their promise either. Racing Point looked good and came home with a double points finish, but their strong qualifying meant fewer, in fact, zero bonus points.
Hamilton took the point for fastest lap. We had zero safety cars during the Anniversary GP, with only one retirement.
