All you need to know for 2025

Date published: 17th February 2025

Here are your key dates and bits of info for the 2025 season… February is a busy month for Formula 1 – we have all the teams launching new cars and potentially some new livery designs too. We have winter testing at the end of the month too.

2025 is a first – Formula 1 are putting on a season launch event at the O2, in London – where all the cars will be revealed for the new season – or rather the liveries will be. As any veteran F1 fan will tell you, the cars shown at launches are either show cars, or not quite complete new cars – the technical designs will change once proper testing begins.

We’re going to be sharing some Fantasy GP game updates over the coming weeks, for now, here’s the F1 stuff you need to know!

Car launches

  • February 18th – The O2, London – you can watch the whole thing live on YouTube from 8pm GMT. Full details here on the F1 website.
  • McLaren, Williams and Haas have already been seen doing shakedowns of their cars, see the teams’ social media for more images

Winter / Pre-season testing

  • February 26th – 28th in Bahrain
  • Three days, cars running from 7am GMT through to 4pm GMT.
  • Updates via F1.com and the usual media outlets.
  • There will be some coverage on F1 TV and Sky F1 too.

7th March – Drive to Survive

  • As usual, Netflix and F1 leave it until the last possible moment to drop the new Drive To Survive season.
  • All episodes land on Netflix on 7th March, giving you exactly a week to binge before we forget about 2024 and focus on 2025.

Rules changes / updates

  • The Fastest Lap point has gone for 2025, well in real F1 at least, it still remains in Fantasy GP and we have an update coming on that soon.
  • Flexi-wings are being locked down more – the FIA have closed some loop holes
  • Rookies get more time with their teams than before (that’s nice!) – also need with 4 brand new rookies plus Bearman and Lawson joining the grid in 2025
  • More driving cooling – to battle the heat in some of the races on the calendar, there’s some new rules around driver cooling systems, read more about that here (bbc.co.uk).

There are a few other changes, but nothing major really, 2025 should be 2024 part 2, but with Hamilton in a red car and some new rookies. Which means this season should be an absolute cracker – and really tricky to predict in Fantasy GP!

16th March – Australian Grand Prix

The new season begins for real. And speaking of race dates, here’s the rest of the season dates for you
