Wake wakey, the results are in!
Date published: 9th March 2024
Results have been updated at 22:30pm GMT Saturday and again later on Monday morning Magnusen’s time penalty dropped him to 12th, not 15th as originally shown and Tsunoda has a late penalty applied, dropping him down a further position. The corrected points for drivers and cars are shown below.
The second race in the season around the Jeddah circuit gave us another incredible dominating performance from the Red Bull team, another 1-2, with Leclerc taking the final step of the podium.
It was far from a captivating race, with the bulk of the action being from 12th downwards due to some clever tactics from the Haas team using Magnussen to hold up cars and give Hulkenberg a free pit stop.
On a more positive note we did see some great racing from Albon and a fab battle between Piastri and Hamilton. The final 10 or so laps had us watching Hamilton and Norris closing up on the top 7 with soft tyres after both drivers had alternative strategies due to an early safety car. It amounted to nothing in the end though. Boo.
The main highlight of the race was seeing Oliver Bearman, who had to jump into Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari and finished an impressive 7th place, well done young lad – 18yrs old!
In Fantasy GP terms, we had the podium of Verstappen, Perez and Leclerc. Verstappen was also on Pole Position of course. The Fastest Lap went to X and we had just the 1 Safety Car period, following Lance Stroll’s clash with the barriers. For the bonus question, the most places gained by a driver was 5 places with Hulkenberg improving by 5 places, so the correct answer was b) 4-6 places.
Here’s the full run down of points, see how you did now. We’re back in a couple of weeks for the Aussie GP on 22nd March.
