Perez takes epic victory in Baku

Results are in for the Azerbaijan Fantasy Grand Prix, find out how you got on!

Date published: 6th June 2021

The streets of Baku delivered another fascinating race for the 2021 season. A race of strategy and overtakes went up a level following a tyre failure for Lance Stroll causing a Safety Car and a bit of chaos. And just as we were settling in for some last few laps of battling, further chaos unfolded as race leader, Max Verstappen had a tyre failure and smashed into the barriers – ending his race immediately, just 5 laps from the finish. With the race nearly over, the red flag came out to stop the session and clear the debris.

A race restart from the grid with 2 laps left and we had Hamilton lock up into turn 1 and go from P2 to P16, giving us a special podium of Perez, Vettel and Gasly. Our driver of the day has to Vettel who took a brilliant 2nd place for Aston Martin – and incredible turnaround! Kudos to Perez too and who isn’t happy to see Gasly on the podium again :)

There were some big bonus points – namely Vettel and Giovinazzi coming away with a massive 27pts each. Elsewhere in terms of Fantasy GP, we had 2 safety car periods, Verstappen took the fastest lap (but no points for that with him failing to finish) and of course Leclerc had Pole Position. For the bonus question we asked about the highest placed Ferrari, the correct option being option A, Top 4 with Leclerc crossing the line in P4 after Hamilton’s rare, but massive mistake.

You can see the rest of the points here and also find out how you did over on the results area now – was it a Bottas or a Perez weekend for you? Let us know on Twitter @Fantasy_GP :)

Update – Monday Morning : Points have been adjusted since Latifi’s post race penalty dropped him to 16th, removing his 3 bonus points and Williams’ 1 bonus point, gifting Haas 2 more bonus points along with MSC and MAZ both gaining 3 further bonus points.
